POSITION: General Maintenance / HVAC Support

REPORTS TO: Maintenance and Grounds Manager

SUMMARY: The General Maintenance / HVAC Support is responsible for ensuring and supporting the timely completion of all maintenance projects throughout the district. This position focuses on maintaining HVAC system efficiency through regular filter replacement and provides general maintenance support as needed.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Replace HVAC filters as needed for the purpose of maintaining system efficiency, air quality, and proper operation
  • Inspect HVAC filters for the purpose of identifying damage, excessive wear, or conditions that would require replacement or additional maintenance
  • Maintain accurate records of HVAC filter changes and related maintenance activities for the purpose of tracking service history and supporting preventative maintenance efforts.
  • Assist in the repair and/or installation of various items, systems and/or components as may be required for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition, which involves assisting with work in general maintenance at any building or structure.
  • Assist other maintenance personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities when approved by the Manager.
  • Assist with the moving and set up of any chairs, tables, and stages as needed for school programs throughout the year.
  • Assist with installation of system component parts, classroom and office equipment and facility components as may be required for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable and operating condition.
  • Assist with the maintenance of tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment, in safe operating condition and to guard against breakage, theft, or loss.
  • Assist in maintaining materials and inventory required for projects.
  • Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Operate all maintenance equipment in a safe and lawful manner.
  • Work within and around the schedules of others to maintain productivity.
  • Be on-call and available for maintenance emergencies
  • Ensure that all federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy pertaining to plant maintenance and operation, fire, safety, and the environment are followed
  • Comply with all federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy pertaining to the storage and disposal of recyclables, trash, waste, and debris
  • Estimate the cost of repair projects in terms of labor, material, and overhead
  • Remain on school premises for entire shift unless required to leave for work-related errands or meetings
  • Assist with the set-up and coordination of school and public use of facilities
  • Assume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development through such efforts as attendance at in services
  • Keep immediate supervisor informed of activities and any issues that may arise
  • Represent the school district in a positive manner
  • Know and follow school district policy and chain of command
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education And/Or Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Three to five years of related experience required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of HVAC air filter types, sizes, and functions for the purpose of ensuring proper selection, inspection, and replacement
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage time effectively for the purpose of completing assigned tasks, responding to maintenance needs, and meeting established deadlines.
