SMT Supervisor - 1st shift

Experienced leader with strong SMT experience / 1st shiftWe are seeking an experienced SMT Supervisor to lead and oversee surface mount technology (SMT) operations within a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for driving production performance, ensuring product quality, and leading a team of operators and technicians to meet customer and delivery requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operations of SMT/PCB assembly lines, including pick-and-place, screen printing, and reflow processes
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of SMT operators, technicians, and support staff
- Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining high quality and efficiency standards
- Monitor and improve key metrics such as throughput, uptime, scrap, and first pass yield (FPY)
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues, partnering with engineering and maintenance teams as needed
- Support setups, changeovers, and line balancing to optimize productivity
- Enforce adherence to work instructions, ESD protocols, and safety standards
- Partner with Quality to ensure compliance with IPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001)
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including process validation and operator training
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing principles
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree preferred
- 3+ years of SMT/PCBA manufacturing experience, with 1+ year in a leadership or supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of SMT equipment (pick-and-place machines, solder paste printers, reflow ovens, AOI)
- Experience with SMT process setup, troubleshooting, and yield improvement
- Familiarity with IPC standards and electronics assembly best practices
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, assembly drawings, and production schedules
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility to support off-shifts or overtime as needed
- Experience in a high-mix, low- to medium-volume manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of specific equipment platforms (e.g., Fuji, Panasonic, ASM, Yamaha)
- Lean/Six Sigma experience
