POSITION SUMMARY:

The Bulk Line Lead is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the bulk ice cream production line while promoting safety, quality, efficiency, and employee engagement. This position serves as the primary point of contact for line operators during the shift, coordinating production activities, troubleshooting issues, ensuring adherence to food safety and quality standards, and supporting the achievement of production goals.

The Bulk Line Lead works closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Sanitation teams to ensure continuous and efficient plant operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and coordinate daily activities of Bulk Line Operators to ensure safe and efficient production.
  • Monitor production schedules and ensure product is manufactured according to specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements.
  • Communicate production priorities, line changes, and operational updates to team members.
  • Perform line checks to verify product quality, equipment performance, packaging integrity, and food safety compliance.
  • Monitor production metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize downtime.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment, process, and product issues and escalates concerns as needed.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, and Sanitation teams to address operational needs.
  • Ensure accurate completion of production records, batch documentation, downtime tracking, and other required reports.
  • Verify employees are following GMPs, HACCP requirements, food safety programs, sanitation procedures, and company policies.
  • Train, coach, and support team members on equipment operation, procedures, safety practices, and quality expectations.
  • Promote a positive team environment focused on accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist supervisors with onboarding and training of new employees.
  • Participate in shift handoff communications to ensure smooth transitions between shifts.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
  • Required:

    High School Education or Equivalent
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Previous experience operating production equipment in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Preferred:
    Lead, trainer, or supervisory experience in a dairy or frozen dessert manufacturing facility.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing, food safety, and quality systems.
  • Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, allergen controls, and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and positively influence team members.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and production tracking systems.
  • Ability to accurately complete production documentation and reports.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, including keyboarding, handling paperwork, and operating office equipment
  • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, and reach as required by job duties
  • Environmental exposure to warehouses stored at ambient (60-70°

    F), refrigerated (35°

    F), and frozen (minus 20°

    F) temperatures, as well as potential exposure to temperatures at or above 120°

    F.
  • Walking:
    Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for short distances on a regular basis.
