Position Overview
Saint Alphonsus Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Caldwell and Nampa Medical Oncology Clinic. The RN will provide skilled nursing care in coordination with licensed providers while promoting a positive patient experience with compassion and kindness.
Responsibilities- Provide skilled technical nursing care under the direction of a provider or RN.
- Perform and document comprehensive physical and psychological assessments.
- Educate patients and families based on assessment of needs.
- Assist provider with diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and competence.
- Maintain a clean, safe, well‑stocked nursing area and patient examination rooms.
- Maintain accurate, legible patient medical records and ensure confidentiality.
- Prepare, administer, and evaluate the effectiveness of medications, including oral, rectal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous routes.
- Provide clinical triage/communication as defined by protocol or provider instructions.
- Assist or lead in emergency situations and aid in identifying methods of improving patient care.
- Route billing information as appropriate.
General Requirements
- Preferred nursing experience in an ambulatory setting.
Education
- Associate or bachelor’s degree from an ACEN or CCNE‑accredited nursing program.
License/Certification
- Current RN license in Idaho issued prior to hire date.
- Multistate licenses must establish residency with the Idaho Board of Nursing within 60 days from hire.
- Proof of application for an Oregon RN license within 90 days of the hire date.
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from AHA, ARC, or the Military Training Network required at hire.
Essential Functions
- Meets health system guiding behaviors and caring standards, including interpersonal communication and professional conduct.
- Demonstrates skilled technical nursing care under provider or RN direction.
- Performs and documents comprehensive assessments.
- Educates patients based on needs.
- Assists provider with procedures in a safe, clean, competent manner.
- Maintains a clean, safe, well‑stocked nursing area.
- Maintains accurate patient medical records.
- Obtains continuing education to maintain clinical expertise and RN clinical ladder.
- Prepares, administers, and evaluates medications.
- Provides clinical triage/communication per protocol or provider instructions.
- Assists provider with examinations and treatments.
- Administers medications via oral, rectal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and Z‑Track routes; intravenous after IV course; allergens under provider direction.
- Documents patient care observations and activities.
- Aids in improving patient care.
- Assists or leads in emergency situations.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding patient and business functions (HIPAA).
- Routes billing information as appropriate.
410 hour shifts, 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. (Mondays off). Caldwell Cancer Care on Tuesday/Friday;
Nampa Cancer Care on Wednesday/Thursday.
