Description:

Posting Job Description We are looking to hire a Registered Nurse for our Nampa Medical Oncology Clinic! As an RN in the Saint Alphonsus Medical Group, you will provide skilled nursing care in coordination with licensed providers while promoting a positive patient experience with compassion and kindness.

You will administer medications, maintain a safe nursing area, and provide education and resources to patients and families based on their needs. RN's are also expected to serve as a mentor to clinical staff, maintain accurate documentation, and preserve confidential information.

Our ideal candidates have the ability to make decisions and take action in stressful situations, while providing outstanding customer service. They must have excellent communication skills and must be a team player. They will need to provide expert assessment, symptom management, patient education, and care coordination for oncology patients. Utilize strong clinical judgment to triage patient concerns, support treatment adherence, ensure timely interventions, and deliver compassionate, patient-centered care throughout the cancer journey.

Schedule:

4 10 hr shifts (Thursday off)

General Requirements
  • Nursing experience in an ambulatory setting preferred.
  • 6 CEU’s every year are required in oncology.
  • 18 CEU’s total in 3 years.
Education
  • An associate or bachelor's degree from a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE
License/Certification
  • Must have an RN license in the state of Idaho issued prior to hire date.
  • Multistate licenses must establish residency with the Idaho Board of Nursing within 60 days from hire.
  • All colleagues must provide licensure or proof of application in process for an Oregon RN license within 90 days of the hire date.
Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assess and triage patient symptoms, treatment side effects, and urgent concerns via phone or electronic messages.
  • Coordinate care with providers, infusion staff, and other team members to ensure timely interventions and follow-up.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on symptom management, medications, treatment plans, and when to seek additional care.
  • Meets health system's Guiding Behaviors and Caring Standards including interpersonal communication and professional conduct expectations.
  • Demonstrates skilled technical nursing care under the direction of a provider or RN.
  • Performs and documents comprehensive physical and psychological assessments.
  • Educates patients based on assessment of needs.
  • Assists provider with diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, assuring in a safe, clean, competent manner/environment.
  • Assists with patient assessment in coordination with a licensed provider.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, well-stocked nursing area, including patient examination room.
  • Maintains a complete, accurate, and legible patient medical record.
  • Obtains continuing education to maintain clinical expertise and RN clinical ladder.
  • Prepares, administers and evaluates the effectiveness of medications.
  • Provides clinical triage/communication as defined by protocol or per provider instructions.
  • Assists provider with examinations and treatments.
  • Administers oral, rectal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and Z-Track medications.
  • Intravenous medications after I.V. course.
  • Allergens administered only under the direction of a provider.
  • Documents patient care observations and activities according to professional standards.
  • Aids in identifying methods of improving patient care.
  • Assists or leads in emergency situations.
