Overview

Join Our Growing Team at Treasure Valley Landscape! We are seeking motivated, reliable Tree Care Groundmen to join our commercial tree care crews and learn the arboriculture trade from the ground up. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for hardworking individuals who love outdoor work, want to build skills in a safety-focused environment, and are eager to advance into climbing or leadership roles.

Treasure Valley Landscape is a full-service commercial landscape provider offering comprehensive landscape management solutions, including landscape maintenance, tree care, irrigation, snow and ice management, and more. Established in 1988, our mission is to deliver professional, high-quality services that enhance curb appeal, property value, and long-term efficiency for businesses, HOAs, and municipalities. We proudly serve the greater Boise area and the Treasure Valley region of Idaho, including Nampa, Meridian, Eagle, Star, Kuna, Middleton, and surrounding communities.

Position Overview

Treasure Valley Landscape is looking for enthusiastic Tree Care Groundmen to support our Foremen and Climbers on daily tree care operations at commercial properties throughout the Treasure Valley. You’ll handle critical ground support tasks—dragging brush, rigging ropes, traffic control, equipment operation, and site cleanup—while learning proper pruning, removal techniques, chainsaw safety, and industry best practices.

This is a perfect starting position for someone who wants hands-on training, year-round work, and a clear path to promotion (many of our best Climbers and Foremen started as Groundmen!).

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Foremen and Climbers with all ground operations
  • Drag brush, feed chippers, cut/log wood, and keep job sites clean and organized
  • Control lowering ropes, supply tools aloft, and rig limbs safely
  • Direct traffic and maintain safe work zones using signs, cones, and flags
  • Operate and drive trucks, chippers, spray rigs, and other tree care equipment
  • Maintain tools, chainsaws, and equipment daily
  • Learn proper pruning/removal methods, basic tree care knots, and ground-based pruning
  • Deliver friendly, professional customer service on every property
  • Follow all safety protocols and participate in daily tailgate safety meetings
  • Perform first aid and respond calmly in emergency situations
  • Be willing to step up as acting Foreman when needed
  • Work five consecutive 8–10 hour days (typically Monday–Friday) with regular overtime, occasional weekends, and storm/emergency call-out availability
Physical Requirements
  • Exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, 50 lbs. frequently, and 20 lbs. constantly
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, gripping, twisting, bending, pushing, pulling, and dragging heavy brush
  • Repetitive movements with hands, wrists, ankles, and knees
  • Ability to twist/turn/bend the trunk frequently throughout the day
Qualifications & Skills
  • No experience required—we will train the right person! (Previous landscape, construction, or outdoor labor experience is a plus)
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and a desire to learn the tree care trade
  • Valid Idaho driver’s license with clean driving record (Class A or B CDL is a bonus and pays more)
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Working Conditions

Year-round outdoor physical labor in Treasure Valley/Idaho weather (cold winters below 20°F with snow and ice, hot summers over 100°F, wind, and variable conditions). Regular exposure to pollen, dust, chainsaw noise, chemicals, and traffic hazards on busy commercial sites.

Summary / Benefits
  • Training and on-going support and mentorship
  • Educational assistance
  • Get paid weekly!
  • 401k with match
  • Medical, Dental & Vision, & PTO
