Mobile Vehicle Mechanic

Location:

Benicia, CA

Clean Harbors is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Mechanic to conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and repair of fleet vehicles at branch locations throughout the area.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Correct equipment deficiencies and perform preventative maintenance on company‑owned equipment as directed by management.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of equipment and identify unsatisfactory conditions.
  • Maintain full compliance with mandatory PPE requirements during all work‑related activities and tasks.
  • Travel to other locations to perform repairs and maintenance on equipment as required.
  • Complete and submit all associated paperwork required for tracking PM schedules.
  • Maintain an active light‑duty or DQ driver status as required for the mobile vehicle type.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • At least 1 year of experience working on heavy‑duty trucks and equipment.
  • At least 1 year of DOT inspection experience.
  • Ability to provide basic tools.
  • Willingness to travel within assigned territory up to 70%.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime.
  • Ability to determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections, scheduled PMs, and diagnostic tests, and identify worn or damaged parts for replacement.
  • Ability to pass a background, drug, and physical test upon hire.
