F&M Installations Ltd is a Nanaimo-based general contractor specializing in power generation and energy infrastructure projects. We work with leading utilities and energy users including BC Hydro, Enbridge, ATCO, Yukon Energy, and major power‑intensive clients in mining, oil, and gas. Our success is built on technical excellence, safety, long‑term client relationships, and respectful, transparent engagement with First Nations.

The Business Development & First Nations Relationship Manager is a senior‑level role responsible for expanding F&M Installations’ project pipeline while building and maintaining strong, trust‑based relationships with First Nations, key clients, and industry partners.

This role sits at the intersection of business development, Indigenous engagement, and strategic partnerships. The successful candidate will identify upcoming opportunities, support pursuit and negotiation efforts, and act as a primary liaison with First Nations communities, leadership, and economic development entities connected to current and future projects.

Business Development

• Identify and pursue new project opportunities within power generation, utilities, mining, and energy infrastructure sectors.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients and partners such as BC Hydro, Enbridge, ATCO, Yukon Energy, and major industrial power users.
• Monitor procurement portals, capital plans, and early‑stage project developments.
• Represent F&M Installations at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
• Qualify opportunities and support pursuit strategy from early engagement through award.

First Nations Relationship Management

• Develop and maintain respectful, long‑term relationships with First Nations whose territories intersect with current or planned projects.
• Act as a key point of contact between F&M Installations and First Nation leadership, councils, economic development corporations, and community representatives.
• Support development of Indigenous participation plans, including employment, training, subcontracting, and joint‑venture opportunities.
• Ensure engagement aligns with Indigenous values, protocols, and community expectations.
• Provide internal guidance to project teams on culturally appropriate engagement and communication.

Commercial & Internal Support

• Support preparation of RFQs, RFPs, and negotiated contract proposals by providing client intelligence, pursuit strategy, and partnership requirements.
• Assist with contract review and negotiation inputs including scope clarity, exclusions, schedule assumptions, and risk considerations.
• Support effective handover of awarded work to project execution teams.
• Maintain CRM records, opportunity tracking, and reporting on business development activities.

• 7+ years of experience in business development, Indigenous relations, stakeholder engagement, or a related senior role.
• Demonstrated experience working with First Nations in British Columbia and Western Canada.
• Strong understanding of utility, power generation, mining, or energy infrastructure projects.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‐building skills.
• Ability to travel regularly within Western Canada; valid driver’s license required.
