Why We Are HiringWe’re currently growing our team of Mortgage Underwriters to keep up with the significant volume of applications. This role supports the nesto–IG Wealth Management partnership. Since 2022, nesto has partnered with IG Wealth Management to power its mortgage offering through our white‑label Mortgage Cloud platform. nesto provides the technology and manages the end‑to‑end mortgage operations, while IG advisors remain the primary relationship managers for their clients.
This role is an end‑to‑end mortgage underwriting position focused on IG clients, who are often high‑net‑worth and business‑for‑self (self‑employed), so their files tend to be more complex than standard retail lending. The role involves reviewing documents, assessing risk, working through conditions with advisors, and managing files to completion before handing them off to the funding team.
- Underwrite residential mortgage applications within required service timelines for a client base that often includes high‑net‑worth and business‑for‑self (self‑employed) borrowers.
- Review and analyze mortgage loan applications and supporting documentation, e.g., credit reports, income verification, asset statements, and appraisal reports, while identifying and mitigating potential risks.
- Maintain accurate and organized loan files, ensuring all required documentation is present and aligned with company policies and lending guidelines.
- Work closely with lending partners to resolve issues while maintaining strong working relationships.
- Provide best‑in‑class support to nesto’s Mortgage Advisor network and their clients throughout the application process.
- Keep Mortgage Advisor and customer satisfaction as the top priority.
- Minimum 3 years of mortgage underwriting experience in a private banking or wealth management setting.
- Extensive experience underwriting mortgage applications for high‑net‑worth, business‑for‑self (BFS), or other complex borrower profiles.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset for handling Quebec files, but is not a mandatory requirement.
- Organized, meticulous, sound thinker, ability to multitask, ability to thrive in a changing environment.
- Strong interest in helping transform the mortgage customer journey.
