If you bring expertise in commercial real estate lending, strong business development skills, and a passion for delivering tailored financing solutions, we'd like to hear from you.

What's the role?

As a Senior Business Relationship Manager, Real Estate, you will build, manage, and grow a portfolio of commercial real estate and syndicated lending relationships. You will identify and structure complex lending opportunities, deliver sound financing solutions, and ensure strong portfolio performance while operating within established risk parameters.

Working closely with the VP, Real Estate & Syndications, Commercial Credit Risk, Business Banking leadership, and other internal and external partners, you will support portfolio growth, risk management, and integrated member solutions.

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Building and managing commercial real estate development and construction lending relationships.
  • Originating and structuring commercial real estate and syndicated lending opportunities.
  • Preparing credit recommendations through comprehensive financial, risk, and security analysis.
  • Managing the full lifecycle of a lending portfolio, including annual reviews, renewals, amendments, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Monitoring portfolio performance and proactively addressing risk issues.
  • Building relationships with developers, investors, centers of influence, and referral partners.
  • Collaborating across business lines to deliver integrated member solutions and identify cross-selling opportunities.
  • Supporting and mentoring colleagues through knowledge sharing and best practice development.
  • What are we looking for?

  • Completion of a college diploma or university degree in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive commercial lending experience with a focus on real estate development and construction financing.
  • Strong experience in credit underwriting, financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, and structuring complex lending transactions.
  • Deep understanding of commercial real estate development lending, project risk assessment, and security evaluation.
  • Demonstrated business development experience with the ability to build strong relationships with members, referral partners, and centers of influence.
  • Strong knowledge of integrated financial solutions and the ability to identify opportunities across business lines.
  • Ideally, you are a collaborative relationship builder with:

  • Proven expertise in commercial real estate financing and portfolio management.
  • Strong analytical and risk assessment capabilities.
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Experience mentoring or coaching colleagues and serving as a trusted resource in commercial lending.
  • Experience with loan syndications and syndicated lending structures.
  • Experience with CMHC loan origination and loan servicing (considered an asset).
  • The ability to balance growth objectives with sound risk management practices.
  • If you're an approachable problem solver who embraces collaboration, continuous learning, and delivering exceptional member experiences, you'll be a great fit with us.
