The Position

Tectonica Management Inc. is seeking a skilled Accountant to join our team. This role will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the company and its projects, including payroll. We are seeking a candidate that is committed to a high level of integrity, organization, and attention to detail. This position will lead our Finance and Administrative team and work closely with the Board of Directors.

Tectonica Management Inc. is a Nanaimo based construction management company with a project range that includes a mix of tenant improvement, light industrial, corporate interiors, institutional, mixed use commercial/residential and challenging renovation and rehabilitation projects.

• Full cycle accounting duties, including transaction processing, client invoicing and year end working paper file preparation for the company’s public accountant.
• Quality control for all financial inputs to the Construction Management custom software program.
• Payroll preparation from timesheet review to semi monthly processing and T4 preparation.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to provide insights and recommendations to management.
• Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to provide financial guidance and support for project planning and execution.
• Lead and mentor administration staff to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and professional development within the department.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA designation
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in public accounting or construction industry role
• Proficiency in Sage 50 or similar platform; advanced Excel and Outlook skills required.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.

Our current controller/accountant is phasing out of her role at Tectonica as a step towards her retirement. Understanding the importance of our new Accountant in Tectonica’ s future, she has offered to stay on to assist in the transition period while it is helpful.
