Join the largest financial institution on Vancouver Island, the Gulf and Discovery islands, and North Central BC as Finance Analyst-Procurement, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to support the development of procurement specifications and responsible for supporting the full cycle procurement process inclusive of contract administration and vendor management.
What’s the role?
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Finance Analyst-Procurement works collaboratively with internal stakeholders to support the development of procurement specifications and is responsible to support the full cycle procurement process inclusive of contract administration and vendor management.
This role also assists with the preparation of the organization’s annual operating and capital budgets, as well as the development and monitoring of internal financial and variance reporting.
The Finance Analyst-Procurement role supports the organization by looking for ways to improve processes by evaluating current workflows, reducing costs, and improving output.
Your duties will include:
Contract Management and Reporting
- Interprets and reviews contracts, drafts contract schedules (scope of work), negotiates, and awards contracts and amendments with vendors on behalf of internal business units.
- Collaborating with user departments to determine sourcing methodologies and develop selection criteria.
- Facilitating competitive processes and complex evaluations using decision matrices and weighted scoring.
- Develop, maintain and improve upon vendor management framework.
Budget & Reporting
- Assists with preparation of the credit union’s annual operating and capital budgets.
- Prepares and/or directs the preparation of subsidiary annual operating and capital budgets.
- Assists in the development and implementation of budget specific policies and procedures.
- Develops and maintains internal corporate financial reports and supplemental financial information (e.g. dashboards, metrics, etc.)
- Prepares financial variance analysis and investigates anomalies;
Documents issues, investigates possible solutions, recommends courses of action, and implements agreed upon solutions. - Supports the system administrator in maintaining finance related software (e.g. accounting, budgeting and reporting systems).
- Investigates, analyzes, and resolves system errors and issues.
- Trains and supports users to promote and foster understanding.
- Identifies opportunities to streamline financial reporting processes and implement improvements.
- Assists with quality financial analysis in support of business cases when required, employing measurements such as present value of cash flows and return on investments.
- Assists with or acts as finance team lead on required project teams.
- Assists with the provision of detailed project plans and timelines for finance resources and tasks.
- Interprets, explains, reports and provides advice on a variety of accounting, budgetary and financial management issues.
What are we looking for?
- Completion of a college diploma or university degree in a related discipline such as business or finance. Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in finance (financial reporting and analysis).
Ideally, you are a flexible, collaborative team player with:
- Proven experience in contract management, strategic sourcing, and vendor governance.
- Experience with process improvement methodologies.
- Demonstrated category management experience in technology, including oversight of critical and complex vendor relationships.
- Previous experience preparing complex annual operating budgets and forecasts is an asset.
- Strong understanding of systems processes
- Advanced knowledge of financial system software (Acumatica an asset)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, Microsoft Office.
