Position: Volunteer for Emergency Support Services
Contribute to the City of Nanaimo by volunteering with the Emergency Support Services team. Provide vital assistance to families affected by emergencies like evacuations, fires, and floods.

The City of Nanaimo seeks community-minded volunteers to support its Emergency Support Services. As an ESS volunteer, you will engage in registration, offer information, and help operate reception centres. You will also ensure that evacuees receive essential supplies and assist in accessing temporary services, including food and lodging.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with registration and intake for evacuees

• Provide information and direction during emergencies

• Help set up and operate reception centres

• Distribute essential supplies to those in need

• Support evacuees with access to temporary services

Requirements:

• No prior experience necessary; training provided

• Reliable and calm under pressure

• Strong communication skills to assist others

• Ability to work well in a team environment

• Flexible time commitment with on-call opportunities
