The salary range for this position is $58,000 - $73,000 per year. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.

Your Role
  • Conducting construction Environmental Monitoring, including erosion and sediment control planning and monitoring, water quality sampling and data analysis.
  • Conducting biophysical assessments, focusing on fisheries and aquatic habitat, riparian habitat and vegetation, and/or wildlife and wildlife habitat, under the guidance of intermediate and senior biologists.
  • Complete post-construction monitoring for regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare field sampling permit applications for fish and wildlife salvages, and complete post-salvage reports.
  • Conduct water and/soil sampling and analysis according to provincial protocols.
  • Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and technical experts in biology and environmental sciences.
  • Working with Project Managers/Discipline Teams to maintain quality control of data.
  • Data analysis and technical reporting (proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Working outside in varied weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work away from home for extended periods.
  • Excellent attention to detail, and ability to work accurately and quickly to meet deadlines.
  • Be punctual and able to start work early in the morning.
  • Health and Safety for work at the project site.
  • Willingness to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Technical Diploma or a

    B.Sc. in biology or ecology, or related fields.
  • Eligibility for registration or currently registered with the College of Applied Biology as a Biologist or Technologist in Training.
  • Interest and aptitude for environmental monitoring and/or erosion and sediment control.
  • Successful applicant must have worked a minimum of 1 to 3 years in the environmental sciences including environmental monitoring, aquatic and riparian surveys, surface water quality sampling, fish and wildlife salvage.
  • Proficient technical writer.
  • A strong track record in Health and Safety management on projects.
  • Knowledge of BC environmental regulations.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and must provide a current drivers abstract.
  • Must be physically capable of working with heavy equipment and sensitive instruments in variable weather and river conditions.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, practicing safe work methods.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication.
