Building Maintenance Caretaker Needed

M’akola Housing Society seeks a full-time Building Maintenance Caretaker located in Nanaimo, BC. This role involves regular property checks, repairs, and tenant engagement.

As part of M’akola’s team, the Caretaker will ensure properties are well maintained and meet organizational standards. Duties include minor repairs, unit turnovers, and responding to on-call situations. A commitment to providing respectful and effective service to diverse communities is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct building quality checks and inspections

• Execute minor repairs such as painting and plumbing

• Assist during unit turnovers and garbage collection

• Respond to after-hour maintenance calls

• Communicate effectively with community residents

Requirements:

• 3 years of relevant maintenance experience

• Proficient in building trades such as electrical or plumbing

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required

• First Aid Level 1 and WHMIS certification completion
