Roofing Labourer

Ridgeline Roofing & Solar is hiring two Roofing Labourers in Nanaimo, BC to join our roofing crew. Reporting to the site foreman, the Roofing Labourer is a full-time, entry-level position that assists with installing various roofing materials, cleaning up, and staging for the roofing crew, all while maintaining job site safety. Work includes roofing projects for both residential and commercial properties in Nanaimo and the surrounding areas.

Specific responsibilities for this role include loading, unloading, and transporting roofing materials and tools, using hand tools, gathering and disposing of debris, as well as setting up ladders, scaffolding, fall arrest systems and more. Safety is important to us at Ridgeline Roofing & Solar. We require that all members of our crew wear appropriate PPE and complete Fall Arrest and other required safety training courses during orientation alongside learning about roofing techniques, tools, and safety standards.

Our Roofing Labourer must be comfortable working at heights and in all weather conditions as well as lifting heavy materials. This role also requires some travel to job sites, and so we require that candidates have a valid BC driver's license and a reliable vehicle. This role includes 40 to 50 hours per week with a wage of $24 to $28 per hour.

As an entry-level position, we do not require any prior work experience in roofing. Training will be provided on site. If you are currently pursuing or wish to pursue education and certification in the roofing trade, we provide opportunities to support your education and career growth.

• Loading, unloading, and transporting roofing materials (shingles, underlayment, insulation, etc.) and tools to and from staging areas, and on to roofs
• Setting up ladders, scaffolding, perimeter markers, and fall arrest systems
• Using hand tools to remove old shingles, built-up roofing layers, and nails down to the roof deck
• Gathering and disposing of debris, nails, and waste material to maintain a clean and hazard free work area
• Learning roofing techniques, tools, and safety standards
• Wearing appropriate PPE
• Completing Fall Arrest and other required safety training during orientation

There are no formal education requirements for this position, but we do offer support for ongoing education and training to employees past their probationary period.
