NHS Nursing Teacher

Nantucket High School has an opening for a Nursing Teacher (1.0) for the  school year. The role is to grow and oversee a three-level nursing education program and internship placements, differentiate instruction, center student voice, and foster inquiry-based learning.

• Knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks (CTE Healthcare Career Cluster: Dental/Health/Medical Assisting)
• Bachelor’s Degree
• DESE MA certification or ability to be certified as a Voc Tech Teacher in Health or Medical Assisting

• Experience teaching high school nursing, preferred
• Passion for teaching nursing
• Strong nursing content knowledge
• Knowledge of high school pedagogy and developmental needs of students
• Ability to assess learning using a variety of methods
• Strong foundation in student‑centered and culturally responsive pedagogy
• Knowledge of differentiated instruction and response to intervention
• Excellent classroom management skills
• SEI endorsement or willingness to complete the course at own expense
• Ability to collaborate with teachers and administrators

Full‑time

$77,425 to $136,801 per year

• Provide content‑related instruction according to MA DESE state standards
• Create a classroom environment that promotes active learning for all students
• Partner with community members for benefit of class instruction
• Exhibit knowledge of performance‑based instruction
• Communicate well with parents and colleagues
• Follow professional ethics in all work-related activities
• Teach first aid, emergency care, nursing assistant skills, CNA certification, blood‑borne pathogens, medical terminology, infectious diseases, vaccines and herd immunity, PPE and workplace safety, medication safety, common chronic diseases, and basic assessment of neurological, cardiovascular, pulmonary, and musculoskeletal systems

• At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
