Overview

The Director of People & Culture serves as a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for shaping, implementing, and sustaining human resources policies, programs, and practices that support The Westmoor Club's mission, culture, and seasonal workforce. This role oversees all aspects of employee relations, staffing and recruitment, organizational development, training, performance management, payroll, benefits administration, compliance, and on-campus employee housing. The Director of People & Culture partners closely with department heads to foster an employee-centered culture emphasizing engagement, accountability, teamwork, and high performance.

Responsibilities
  • Champion and cultivate an employee-oriented culture that emphasizes quality service, continuous improvement, teamwork, recognition, and accountability.
  • Implement and maintain HR policies, programs, and practices in compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve the employee orientation and onboarding program in partnership with the General Manager.
  • Design and deliver annual manager training focused on club culture, employee engagement, recognition, coaching, performance management, and accountability.
  • Lead recruitment and retention efforts for all departments, including sourcing, screening, and conducting initial interviews.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employee relations, providing guidance, support, and conflict resolution related to workplace concerns, performance issues, and policy interpretation.
  • Maintain personnel files and ensure all HR documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant.
  • Maintain and update the Employee Handbook in accordance with legal changes and internal policy updates.
  • Provide clear, timely, and consistent company-wide communications related to employee matters and HR initiatives, including publishing an employee newsletter.
  • Ensure all job descriptions are accurate, current, and compliant with Club standards.
  • Legal Requirements. Payroll, Benefits, & Compliance Process weekly payroll and ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with wage and hour laws.
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, including: completion and tracking of all required paperwork (I-9s, background checks, OSHA training, etc.); setup & termination of employees in payroll & HR systems; maintenance of employee arrival/departure calendars & master employee lists.
  • Administer compensation programs and employee benefit plans, including eligibility, enrollment, and coordination with benefit brokers and vendors.
  • Maintain employee benefit records, including additions, changes, and terminations; ensure ACA compliance in coordination with the payroll provider.
  • Maintain OSHA logs, file required year-end reports, and coordinate with Workers’ Compensation carriers as needed.
  • Process unemployment claims accurately and in a timely manner.
  • File requests for Seasonal Overtime Exemption with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Partner with the Club's immigration/employer agent to facilitate H-2B and J-1 visa filings with the U.S. Department of Labor and related agencies.
  • Employee Housing – Manage on-campus employee housing assignments, arrivals, and departures.
  • Employee Engagement & Culture – Support and promote the Club's mission and culture, ensuring professional and respectful behavior at all times; maintain required and engaging postings in employee dining and common areas.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive human resources management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with compensation planning, benefits administration, and vendor management.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law, including EEOC, FMLA, ADA, and wage & hour regulations.
  • Experience with seasonal work forces is strongly preferred.
  • H-2B and/or J-1 visa experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with onboarding and compliance requirements, including I-9 documentation.
  • Payroll experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
