Data Architect / Principal Consultant

XCentium is seeking an experienced Data Architect / Principal Consultant with deep expertise in Microsoft Fabric and enterprise lakehouse design to join our data practice. In this role, you will lead the architecture and delivery of modern data platforms for our clients, designing scalable, and governed solutions built on the Medallion Architecture framework. You will serve as a trusted technical advisor to client stakeholders, translating complex business requirements into robust data platform designs, spanning ingestion, transformation, data quality, semantic modeling, and real-time analytics.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver proof-of-concepts, accelerators, and production-grade implementations. The ideal candidate brings both the architectural vision to design enterprise-scale data hubs and the hands-on depth to guide implementation teams through execution. This is a high-impact, client-facing role suited for someone who thrives at strategy and delivery.

Core

Qualifications:

• 5+ years in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise data platform roles
• 3+ years hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (One Lake, Lakehouse, Data Factory, Event stream, KQL Database)
• Strong proficiency with Delta Lake format and its role across Lakehouse tiers
• Experience with Power BI and Direct Lake connectivity for semantic modeling in the Gold layer

Medallion Architecture Depth:

• Ability to define layer-specific governance: access restriction at Bronze, data quality enforcement at Silver, RLS and business semantics at Gold
• Experience designing star schemas in the Gold layer for BI consumption
• Knowledge of CDC (Change Data Capture) patterns within the medallion framework

Data Engineering & Integration:

• Proficiency with PySpark / Spark Structured Streaming within Fabric notebooks
• Experience integrating Azure Data Factory and Dataflows Gen2 for ingestion pipelines
• Familiarity with source systems such as Salesforce, Oracle Service Cloud, Profisee (or similar MDM platforms)
• Knowledge of real-time vs. batch ingestion path design within Fabric (Event stream vs. scheduled pipelines)
• Hands-on experience with Azure AI Foundry or AI/ML integration into the lakehouse is a plus

Architecture & Governance:

• Ability to design and document end-to-end enterprise data platform architectures
• Experience with Microsoft Purview for data catalog, lineage, and governance spanning all medallion tiers
• Familiarity with master data management (MDM) integration patterns

Client-Facing / Consulting

Skills:

• Experience leading or advising enterprise client engagements as a principal/senior consultant

Nice to Have:

• Microsoft Fabric or Azure Data Engineer certification
• Experience with Databricks as a complementary or alternative platform
