Salary: $33 per hour
This employee will provide both written translation and oral interpretation of languages other than English for students, parents, staff, and the general public. Responsibilities include translating documents, researching terminology, and working with educational teams to ensure accurate, age‑appropriate materials.
Responsibilities- Read original materials and rewrite them in the target language, ensuring grammatical correctness and meaning retention.
- Research legal, technical, and educational terms to ensure accurate, consistent translations.
- Proofread, edit, and revise translated materials.
- Interpret or translate oral, written, or sign language text into another language.
- Confirm translations with authors or sources to maintain fidelity to the original.
- Adapt translations to students’ cognitive and grade levels, collaborating with educational staff as needed.
- Identify and resolve conflicts in meanings of words, practices, or concepts.
- Prepare Connect Ed announcements in target languages.
- Educate students, parents, staff, and teachers about the role of translators and interpreters.
- Act as a friendly ambassador for the School District.
- Assist with other duties as required to support the Central Office operations.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
- Ability to work harmoniously with others and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Independently perform administrative support functions requiring judgment, decision‑making, and problem solving.
- Skilled in the use of translation software to ensure consistency across documents.
- Proficiency with Internet research tools and email during the translation process.
- Strong prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
- Networking ability to build positive relationships among constituencies.
- High level of ethical behavior and confidentiality when dealing with students, staff, and parents.
