Job SummarySeeking an experienced ER RN for a unique assignment on Nantucket Island. As the only hospital on the island, NCH serves as a critical access facility providing 24/7 emergency care to a population that swells significantly during the spring and summer months. This role requires a versatile clinician comfortable with a broad range of acuity, from primary care walk-ins to stabilizing patients for medevac transport.
KeyResponsibilities
- Island Emergency Care: Provide high-level nursing care for patients of all ages, including tourists, residents, and maritime emergencies.
- Stabilization & Transport: Assist in the stabilization of high-acuity patients (trauma, STEMI, Stroke) in preparation for air transport to mainland tertiary centers in Boston or Providence.
- Multidisciplinary Triage: Efficiently triage patients using ESI protocols, ensuring life-threatening conditions are addressed immediately in a resource-limited environment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with a tight-knit team of emergency physicians and mid-level providers to manage the surge in volume typical of the spring season.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room experience (Experience in a Critical Access or rural hospital is a plus).
- Licensure: Active Massachusetts State RN License required by start date.

- Shared Housing Provided: One of the most significant perks of this contract—housing is provided at no cost to the traveler. Given Nantucket's limited housing market, this is a highly valuable benefit.
- Shift Rotation: Must be flexible to work rotating day and night shifts based on the unit’s needs.
- Critical Order: This is a high-priority "Critical Order" to ensure coverage as the island's busy season begins.
- Facility Address: 57 Prospect St, Nantucket, MA 02554
