About This Role

The RN in the Operating Room at Nantucket Cottage Hospital is responsible for perioperative nursing, including assessing patients preoperatively, planning care during surgical interventions, and implementing nursing actions. This role is ideal for experienced nurses looking to work in a dynamic surgical environment.

• Facility: Nantucket Cottage Hospital
• Schedule: Full-Time, Day shift
• Pay: $37.69 - $89.59/Hourly

• Assess patients preoperatively and plan care during surgical interventions.
• Implement nursing actions and evaluate outcomes.
• Demonstrate expertise in operating room procedures.
• Establish and implement standards of practice for safe nursing skills.
• Interpret and comply with JCAHO, OSHA, and other standards.
• Conduct nursing assessments and develop care plans upon admission.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of intraoperative measures and document actions.
• Communicate and collaborate with healthcare team members.
• Maintain a procedural log for the operating room and other units.
• Cover central supply responsibilities as needed.

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school required;
  Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

• At least two (2) years of prior perioperative experience required/preferred.

• Current valid Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• BLS/CPR certification required within one week of hire.
• ACLS and PALS certifications required prior to completion of orientation or within 6 months of hire.
• National certification in areas of expertise (CNOR, CEN, CCRN, etc.) preferred.
