Job Description
Bus Driver Coordinator – Stipend Position – Nantucket Public Schools
Starting Date:
Jul 1, 2026. Compensation: $10,000 annual stipend. Position type:
Part‑time. Reports to Assistant Superintendent for Academic Operations.
The Bus Driver Coordinator provides the primary communication link between bus drivers, school offices, families, and district administration to ensure safe, efficient, and timely transportation for students. The role monitors transportation operations during peak arrival and dismissal times, maintains transportation records, coordinates route changes, communicates updates, and responds to transportation‑related issues as they arise.
Schedule:
Available during school days – Morning: 6:30 a.m.–8:30 a.m.;
Afternoon: 1:30 p.m.–3:30 p.m.
- Maintain and update the district’s master transportation list, including bus routes, driver assignments, and student information.
- Coordinate transportation changes due to enrollment, address changes, schedule adjustments, or special circumstances.
- Work collaboratively with school office staff to ensure transportation information is accurate and current.
- Maintain transportation records using Google Workspace and district systems.
- Monitor transportation radio communications during assigned hours.
- Respond promptly to transportation issues, emergencies, delays, and student‑related concerns.
- Coordinate solutions and communicate necessary information to drivers, schools, and families.
- Maintain a log of transportation concerns and resolutions.
- Assist with transportation planning and route reviews.
- Support district administration in ensuring efficient transportation operations.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Forms, Gmail).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond effectively to changing situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer‑service orientation.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Commitment to student safety and high‑quality customer service.
- Experience in transportation, dispatching, logistics, school operations, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience working with families, students, and school personnel (preferred).
- Knowledge of school transportation systems and routing processes (preferred).
- At least 1 year of relevant experience (preferred).
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
