Position Overview
Assessment-Records Assistant I/II – full-time – Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk Department, Napa County.
About the Position- Assessment-Records Assistant I:
Salary $28.76 – $33.81 per hour (Step 1-5) - Assessment-Records Assistant II:
Salary $31.06 – $36.58 per hour (Step 1-5) - Public Service Employee Unit Benefits Summary
- Process, index, and file official documents for recording and assessment.
- Maintain the assessment roll and property records.
- Provide direct customer service.
- Support clerical functions in the Assessor and Recorder-County Clerk divisions.
- For I level: perform routine, less complex duties under close supervision.
- For II level: determine adequacy of documents, handle complex assessment tasks, and provide technical assistance to others.
- Education:
Completion of twelfth grade; coursework in real estate, appraisal, finance, or paralegal fields desirable. - Experience:
- Assistant I:
One year of general clerical experience in a County Assessor, Recorder, Clerk office, title company, or financial institution. - Assistant II:
Two years of directly related experience with assessment records or legal documents, or one year as Assistant I in Napa County.
- Assistant I:
- Possession of a valid California Driver's License (or ability to obtain).
- Maintain any required licenses, certifications, or registrations in good standing during employment.
- Online Final date to receive applications:
Monday, March 2, 2026 at 5:00 pm PST. - Applications Screening and Supplemental Question Scoring: week of March 9, 2026. Qualified applicants will be invited to Oral Panel Interview.
- Oral Exam (Panel Interview): week of March 23, 2026. Qualified candidates placed on eligibility list for up to 12 months.
