Camp Out with Us this Summer – Become a Camp Associate with the City of Napa!
Are you ready for a summer filled with excitement, adventure, and lasting memories? The City of Napa Parks and Recreation Department is looking for passionate, responsible, and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as mentors and role models this summer! We are hiring part‑time staff to work in our day camps and youth sports camps, where you'll have the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of young campers while helping them build confidence and create unforgettable memories.
Applications will be reviewed on a continuous basis until all positions have been filled.
What We’re Looking For:- Must be available to work at least 20 hours per week, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends when needed.
- Participate in weekly trainings based on the needs of the Parks & Recreation Services Department.
- Successful candidates must be available June 8 - June 12 for our Mandatory Staff Training Week, in order to be eligible to work this summer.

Part‑Time Extra Help positions are not to exceed 1,000 hours in a fiscal year (July 1–June 30). Temporary and part‑time employees are at‑will and not covered by the Civil Service System. Some benefits for temporary employees include sick leave, temporary employee retirement plan, and 3.5% bilingual pay if applicable.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:- Acts as a leader and instructs others in recreational activities at Parks and Recreation centers and community sites.
- Leads games, free‑play, and arts and crafts activities.
- Participates enthusiastically with camp attendees and other Recreation staff.
- Provides guidance to participants in conducting recreation activities.
- Assists professional staff in planning, organizing, and conducting recreation activities and events.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Principles of basic math and statistics;
- Effective customer service techniques;
- Computer applications related to the work;
- Proper grammar, spelling, punctuation and sentence structure.
- Prepare clear, concise and complete written materials, such as educational and informational materials, reports and correspondence;
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing;
- Represent the City with the general public;
- Respond to customer questions or problems;
- Provide courteous and positive customer service;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties;
- Demonstrate tact and diplomacy;
- Make sound independent decisions within procedural guidelines.
- Any combination of education, experience, and training that would provide the best qualified candidates.
- Some related work experience is desirable, such as working in recreation, sports, or a classroom environment; working with the public of all ages; or performing customer service, and record‑keeping duties. Previous participation in group sports, volunteer activities or a general interest in working with youth is also desirable.
