Ameri Corps EXL-Calistoga
Ameri Corps EXL offers a meaningful opportunity to support students' academic growth and personal development while being part of a dedicated team making a lasting impact in schools. Students are at the heart of our work. We are seeking proactive, adaptable, enthusiastic, and dedicated Ameri Corps EXL Mentors to support the academic and social emotional development of students in local area schools of Santa Rosa, California.
We partner with schools to identify students who would benefit from a positive, adult role model. EXL Mentors play a key role in leading Active Recess activities with students. Each Member is placed at one school site upon hiring to serve for the entire school year (commuting among school sites is not a daily requirement.) Member Duties :
Essential Duties:
Active Recess:
Facilitate daily structured games to promote positive behaviors and conflict resolution during the day and after school. Academic Tutoring:
Lead daily 30-minute 1-on-1 or small group literacy/math sessions for students below grade level. Mentoring:
Support personal growth, skill development, and relationship-building. Expanded Learning:
Engage students in the COOL School after-school program, including homework, enrichment, and mandatory spring break/summer programs. Development:
Participate in training, local community events, and 2 mandatory weekend service days. Commitment:
Full-time, 10-month contract (1700 hours). Serve Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM in-person. Must live within a reasonable commute.
