Mariposa Coach & Mentor-Napa

Program Summary

The Mariposa Program, operated by the Napa County Office of Education, is seeking compassionate and community-minded Ameri Corps Members to serve as Mariposa Coaches for the  school year. Members will play an integral role in supporting youth development, mentoring, and cultural enrichment across local school sites throughout Napa County.

• Serve as a consistent, caring adult role model and mentor for diverse youth across assigned school sites.
• Support students in building self-confidence, interpersonal communication, leadership skills, emotional resilience, and healthy peer relationships.
• Actively foster student engagement and a sense of belonging through intentional relationship-building and inclusive programming.
• Lead and assist with small-group activities, restorative student-centered discussions, and student leadership opportunities.
• Implement prevention education, leadership activities, and youth engagement initiatives central to the Mariposa mission.
• Coordinate and assist with youth participation in regional ballet, heritage events, and cultural celebrations.
• Create welcoming, identity-affirming environments and assist with school-wide events, community gatherings, and student performances.
• Participate in ongoing professional development, training, cohort-based team training, and mentorship from program leadership.
• Gain hands-on experience in youth mentorship, social-emotional learning, and community public service.
