Music Teacher Responsibilities- Provide instruction for students in grades K-5 on singing, rhythm, beat, tempo, movement, improvisation, and the playing of pitched and unpitched percussion instruments.
- Collaborate with faculty to design integrated curriculum, projects, and service-learning opportunities
- Integrate singing, movement, rhythm instruments, and play into classroom instruction.
- Ensure proper care, maintenance, and responsible use of musical instruments, equipment, and technology.
- Build strong relationships through clear and consistent communication with families, students, and colleagues, including timely updates on student progress and effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication
- Participate in ongoing professional development to improve instructional practices and remain current with trends in the field.
- Prepare students for school concerts and planned music experiences.
- Inspire and motivate students to extend themselves to after school music clubs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- At least 2 years of previous K-12 music teaching experience.
- Experience with progressive pedagogy, student-centered learning, project-based learning, and integrated curriculum planning.
- Expertise in a particular area, instrument, or style of music.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- U.S. Work Authorization required.
- Orff Schulwerk, Kodaly and/or Dalcroze training is preferred.
Compensation and benefit packages are competitive but will differ by school and will typically depend on geographic location, your experience, and your level of degree.
