Position Title: Part-Time Ameri Corps EXL Member – 900 Hours Over 10 Months

This opportunity is especially well suited for Napa-area residents, college students, recent graduates, aspiring educators, and anyone looking for purposeful part-time service while continuing school, work, or other professional goals.
Ameri Corps EXL Members serve directly in local Napa schools, becoming trusted mentors, enrichment leaders, tutors, and positive role models for students. Each Member is placed at one school site for the service year
, so you will not be expected to commute between multiple schools each day.
This is a part-time, 900-hour Ameri Corps service commitment over 10 months.
Regular service schedule:
- Monday–Friday
- Approximately 12:00 PM–5:30 PM
- Core daily programming generally occurs during the afternoon and after-school hours
- Some evenings, weekends, trainings, or additional service events may be required to successfully complete the 900-hour contractual service requirement
- Winter Break Intercession programming is mandatory
Members are generally not expected to serve when their assigned school site is closed
, according to the district-specific school calendar, with the exception of required programming and Ameri Corps service events.
Service is completed in person
, and Members must live within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned Napa school site.
Ameri Corps EXL Members serve within the Napa Expanded Learning Program and/or ACE After School Program, helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Your service may include a combination of the following:
Active Recess & Student EngagementHelp make recess and after-school time more positive, active, and inclusive.
- Facilitate structured games, sports, and activities
- Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive behavior
- Help students practice conflict-resolution and relationship-building skills
- Serve as a consistent and encouraging adult presence on campus
Support students who may benefit from additional academic encouragement and practice.
- Provide individualized and small-group support in reading, writing, math, and other academic areas
- Reinforce classroom learning goals and instructional strategies
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff
- Help students build confidence, persistence, and positive learning habits
Build meaningful relationships with students who may benefit from additional connection and support.
- Facilitate individual or small-group mentoring
- Lead lessons focused on social-emotional learning, relationship‑building, communication, and personal growth
- Use provided curriculum to develop and implement engaging mentoring activities
- Help students strengthen confidence, belonging, and connection to school
Ameri Corps EXL Members are not traditional after-school teachers or childcare staff
