Redwood Credit Union is looking for a Mortgage Loan Officer I, who will be responsible for marketing mortgage loan products and coordinating, organizing, and preparing real estate documentation to ensure accurate and expeditious loan closings.
Key ResponsibilitiesLoan File Management
- Review loan files for accuracy and completeness upon receipt.
- Review preliminary title report and appraisal to ensure completeness and compliance.
- Schedule loan signing appointments with Members while confirming loan document orders.
- Consult with Members on at least a weekly basis regarding the status of their loan.
- Review cross sell opportunities and offer those that will benefit each individual Member.
- Approve and/or make recommendations for loan approval to established limits.
- Identify expired pre-approvals and send out Statement of Credit Denial Letters as required.
- Develop and utilize pipeline management system with loan processor to ensure high quality Member service.
- Prepare closing document order forms and ensure loan files are closed according to RCU standards.
- Recognize and propose changes in the workflow to maintain maximum efficiency.
- Counsel Members on loan requirements and matters affecting the granting of loans.
- Discuss loan options and programs that will benefit each Member.
- Recommend action steps to Members that help them qualify for a loan.
- Train staff on the fundamentals of mortgage lending and requirements to obtain a loan from RCU.
- Perform branch visits to assist in training co-workers.
- Provide exceptional service to all Members, volunteers, team members and service providers.
- Research and resolve Member or team member concerns as directed.
- Discuss loan products and services at special events such as home show and first-time homebuyer seminars.
- Compose and type letters, memos and reports for staff and Members as needed.
- Provide general assistance to management in completing tasks and projects.
- Examine loan files prior to auditing to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of internet-based loan origination software.
- Knowledge of basic residential mortgage loan products.
- Knowledge of real estate principles, practices, rules, and regulations.
- Knowledge of secondary market investor guidelines and compliance requirements.
- Skill, aptitude, and interest in sales.
- Skill in the operation of a PC with word processing and spreadsheet software, and Internet/intranet access.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people including vendors and other Credit Union team members.
- Ability to act independently and confidentially, using discretion and tract.
- Ability to analyze situations and recommend workable solutions.
- Ability to coordinate a variety of activities and prioritize work.
- Ability and desire to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work a rotating schedule which will include working on rotating Saturdays.
- Ability to obtain and maintain registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry in compliance with the requirements of Federal Law, including the SAFE ACT and NCUA part 761.
The ideal candidate has a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma with a minimum of two years of experience in the mortgage industry or a closely related field.
