Are you passionate about leading a hardworking team of dedicated Public Safety Dispatch Supervisors, Dispatchers, and Call Takers?
The City of Napa is accepting applications for one (1) Communications Manager opening in the Communications Dispatch Center within the Napa Police Department. Our Communications Dispatch Center is the primary public safety answer point for all 911 emergency calls to the Napa Police Department, Napa County Sheriff's Department, American Canyon Police Department, Napa Fire Department, American Canyon Fire Department and AMR Ambulance Services.
Our Dispatchers are also responsible for transferring calls to Cal Fire, St. Helena Police Department and Calistoga Police Department.
As the Communications Manager, you will manage the daily operations of the Dispatch Center and ensure your team continues to provide prompt, professional service to our community. We are looking for a leader who can remain calm under pressure and has a deep understanding of dispatching and emergency communications. It will be essential that the candidate selected will have strong interpersonal skills and excel at mentoring, developing, and motivating their staff.
The Communications Manager serves as the primary liaison between the City and our partner agencies, including overseeing the renewal of the contracts for dispatch services. This person will have the project management experience and technical background to champion upcoming enhancements to the technology which will allow the center to stay current with contemporary public safety tools and programs. Applicants with increasingly responsible experience working in a public safety communications environment with supervisory responsibility are encouraged to apply.

Ideal candidates for the position of Communications Manager will have shown success in demonstrating the following competencies:
