Overview

Position:
Unit/Shift Nurse Leader. Responsible for scheduling, leading, and coordinating the daily activities of a defined unit on an assigned shift, while delivering safe, high-quality nursing care and ensuring regulatory compliance. Provides leadership to staff as a resource, role model, mentor, and change agent to support departmental goals.

• Schedule, lead, and coordinate daily activities of the unit on an assigned shift.
• Oversee delivery of optimal, safe, quality nursing care and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Direct and supervise a team of nurses and support staff; ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations and hospital policies.
• Coordinate services with other patient care units to optimize patient flow; provide direct specialty nursing services as appropriate.
• Assist the department Manager in achieving unit and organizational goals.
• Collaborate with the care team to meet patient and family needs through the continuum of care.
• Maintain continuous oversight of the unit and patient conditions through rounds and discussions with nurses and physicians.
• Contribute to professional growth and development of staff through education; participate in performance evaluations.
• Prioritize patient care needs and staffing assignments to maintain patient safety; assign based on competency and experience.
• Provide clinical direction to staff and evaluate the level of care provided by unit nursing staff.
• Communicate findings to Nurse Manager and participate in corrective actions as needed; provide administrative support as required.

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent combination of education/related experience.
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice.
• Clinical specialty and/or nursing administration certification (facility-specific licenses/certifications as applicable).

• Vaccination requirement for associates as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply.
• Participation in E-Verify and acknowledgement of E-Verify notices as part of the application process.
