Role Overview
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive patient assessments, including history taking and physical examinations, in accordance with department protocols and regulatory standards. They collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to ensure effective, high-quality patient care, addressing physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive aspects. Responsibilities include reviewing medical records, ordering diagnostic tests, maintaining communication across departments, delegating duties, and participating in quality improvement and research activities.

The NP demonstrates professionalism, safety awareness, cultural sensitivity, and effective communication, ensuring continuity of care and patient advocacy.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 6 months of nurse practitioner experience; 2 years in emergency or urgent care setting preferred
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing with specialization in Family Practice or Acute Care
  • Valid Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse licenses in California
  • Certifications in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and National Nurse Practitioner Certification
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI) required

Key Duties

  • Perform age-appropriate assessments and examinations
  • Consult with supervising clinicians based on assessment findings
  • Coordinate care with healthcare team members and ensure documentation accuracy
  • Participate in quality improvement, safety protocols, and staff development
  • Adhere to legal, ethical, and institutional standards, maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Apply clinical knowledge and demonstrate accountability in practice

Additional Requirements

  • Meet credentialing requirements and obtain PTAN within 30 days of hire
  • Fulfill specialty-specific expectations if applicable
