The Nursery Area Lead is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the nursery and garden center area, ensuring excellent customer service, healthy plant care, and efficient merchandising. This role serves as a working leader, supporting and guiding team members while maintaining high standards for product quality, safety, and presentation.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and support day-to-day operations of the nursery area, including plant care, inventory management, and merchandising.
Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with plant selection, care guidance, and product recommendations.
Ensure proper watering, pruning, fertilizing, and general maintenance of plants and nursery stock.
Train, coach, and support nursery team members on procedures, safety, and customer service expectations.
Maintain accurate inventory levels, assist with ordering, receiving, and organizing nursery products.
Ensure the nursery area is clean, safe, organized, and visually appealing at all times.
Monitor plant health and promptly address issues such as pests, disease, or damage.
Follow company policies, safety guidelines, and loss prevention practices.
Collaborate with store leadership on seasonal planning, promotions, and displays.
QualificationsPrior experience in a nursery, garden center, landscaping, or related retail environment preferred.
Working knowledge of plants, gardening, and basic horticulture practices.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to lift, move, and carry merchandise (up to 50 lbs) as needed.
Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask.
Schedule RequirementsFlexible availability including weekends, holidays, and peak seasonal periods.
Physical RequirementsProlonged standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
Ability to work outdoors for extended periods.
