High above the beautiful Napa Valley’s Lake Hennessy lies Gandona Estate; 12 blocks carved into the steep terrain, each possessing a distinct personality and entirely unique expression of their place. A passion for the extraordinary, rooted in tradition, is made evident by the consideration and attention for every element on the estate. Seventeen acres of predominantly Bordeaux varietals are planted on a range of Sobrante Loam variants.
These grapes produce an array of flavors and require several hand harvesting passes. Meticulously hand-farmed, the careful attention of our team at Gandona is based on long-term sustainable practices, not just to reach an immediate end-result but also to maintain and enhance the quality of the land, air and water at the estate.
Gandona Estate is seeking a Hospitality Manager to join our small, experienced team. The ideal candidate has a love for wine and people, and a sales-minded drive. This person will host tastings and grow tasting reservations through targeted outreach and by developing referral partners. The hospitality manager is also responsible for increasing direct to consumer sales through club sign-ups, tasting room sales, and targeted outreach via email and phone.
Responsibilities- Manage Gandona’s hospitality program:
- Run every aspect of the tasting room, including hosting, scheduling, order processing, client follow-up, inventory, washing glasses, etc.
- Promote hospitality offerings to existing and potential clients
- Perform outreach to build referral sources
- Host winery and off-site event tastings
- DTC sales:
- Achieve sales goals, and wine club memberships
- Acquire new clients and building relationships with existing clients
- Carry out targeted email and phone campaigns
- Address inquiries by phone, email, and text in a timely manner
- Capture sales by phone, email, and text while providing an exemplary customer experience
- Manage in-house fulfillment, and shipping logistics
- Maintain new member sign-ups, bounced mail and email, unsubscribes, address changes, club status changes, etc.
- Manage winery and tasting room inventory, including transfers and sample orders
- Events:
- Plan and execute client events locally
- Coordinate and represent Gandona Estate at industry events as needed
- Deep love for and knowledge of wine
- Genuine passion for hospitality and building relationships with clients
- Drive to achieve profitability and other business objectives through sales and other key performance indicators.
- Excellent communication skills in person, on the phone, and in writing
- Focus on performance and attention to detail
- High standard of integrity and ethics
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel
- Experience with Vin Suite or similar POS software preferred
- Hospitality and sales experience in a luxury industry required
- Wine industry experience required
- High School diploma or GED required
- Weekend hours required (Tues-Sat schedule, Sunday tasting if necessary)
- Evening hours on occasion, if needed
- Work environments include winery and tasting room in St. Helena on Pritchard Hill
- Occasional travel for local events
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
- Background check required in the hiring process
