Job Title Instructor - Humanities & Global Studies Status Full Time FTE 1.0 Classification Title Faculty

Job Summary

The Instructor of Humanities & Global Studies provides instruction in interdisciplinary humanities and global studies subject areas. The faculty member may teach a variety of courses related to humanities, anthropology, and/or cultural geography. This position also supports the continued development of regional, world, and international studies content and provides stewardship for anchor courses connected to the Honors Scholars Program, including HUM 190 and ANTH 290.

Required Qualifications

* Master's degree in Anthropology, Human Geography, Humanities, Global Studies, International Studies, Cultural Studies, or a very closely related field.

* Experience teaching in college-level Honors programs

* Evidence of effective communication and organizational skills.

* Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.

Preferred Qualifications

* Teaching experience at the community college level.

* Experience with interdisciplinary curriculum development.

* Experience supporting honors, experiential, intercultural, or globally-focused learning initiatives.

* Experience with online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced instruction.

* Interest in developing future coursework or programming related to regional, global, or international studies.

Skills:

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.

Skills:

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from prospective and current employees, and groups of managers.

* Mathematical

Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

* Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

* Office Environment:
This role may involve being in a stationary position in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse (or applicable equipment) and telephone. This role may also involve standing and walking for periods of time, and the use of hands and moving objects on occasion, of up to 10-20 lbs.

Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
