Senior Wind Technician – TX3
Role Summary/
Purpose:
The Senior Wind Technician is a critical and active role to maintain optimal functioning and output at the wind site by working daily on turbine operations, required maintenance, safety, quality control and warranty repair(s). The Senior Technician should demonstrate proficiency with all elements of wind turbine function, partner and communicate with stakeholders to execute contractual requirements and timelines to ensure alignment with GE excellence.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex troubleshooting for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on multiple platforms.
- Apply extensive understanding of variable pitch & speed turbines and converter parts.
- Read, understand and explain schematics, drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations.
- Work with site leadership to execute contractual obligations per customer requirements on a daily basis.
- Identify issues or errors and repair or replace parts to correct malfunctions.
- Assist in all areas of site operations as directed by manager, and mentor peers.
- Adhere to all Environmental Health and Safety processes and regulations and all applicable compliance requirements.
- Perform diagnostic analysis and generate plan for timely resolution and document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures.
- High School Diploma or GED and ability to pass Technical Knowledge Assessment.
- 4+ years of wind troubleshooting experience, or 1+ year in a safety or quality role with 3+ years of wind troubleshooting experience.
- Valid driver’s license; able to handle repetitive weight of 50 lbs and climb towers up to 300 ft daily; meet manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300 lbs including required gear.
- Ability and willingness to work in a range of environments, prioritize work according to contract obligations, take initiative, work without direct supervision, and work rotating shift schedules and on‑call per site needs.
- Preferred:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field; technical certifications in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic field; experience with hydraulic power tools, heavy equipment, crane and rigging requirements; borescope certification; willingness to assist at other sites and travel.
This is not a remote position. The work location for this position includes all wind sites within Texas Hub 3. You will be expected to work at all sites within this Hub and may be required to travel to other sites within the Hub as assigned by your manager.
Compensation & BenefitsBase pay for this position is $43.18 – $46.10 per hour. The Company also provides a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
