The Houseperson provides support to the housekeeping team by ensuring that guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are properly stocked, organized, and maintained. This role plays a vital part in supporting the room attendants, laundry attendants, and housekeeping leaders in a timely and efficient manner.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Deliver clean linens, towels, amenities, and supplies to guest rooms and housekeeping carts.
- Remove soiled linens, trash, and guest room items as directed.
- Assist room attendants with heavy or large items, such as luggage or furniture.
- Maintain housekeeping carts, storage areas, and supply rooms in a neat and organized manner.
- Ensure guest floors, corridors, and service areas are free of obstacles and hazards.
- Restock housekeeping closets with necessary cleaning supplies, linens, and amenities.
- Assist in cleaning public areas, back-of-house spaces, or other areas as needed.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the housekeeping supervisor promptly.
- Support special projects such as deep cleaning, room setup for VIPs, or hotel events.
- Wash and polish water glasses for guest rooms.
Requirements include:
- 6 months + housekeeping experience in a hotel environment preferred.
- Must be able to verbally communicate clearly with guests and fellow employees.
- Must be able to make appropriate judgements relative to the process of cleaning guest rooms.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to push, pull, and lift heavy objects.
Hours:
Due to the business demands of the hospitality industry, and the fact that the hotel provides guest services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year- any employee may be required to work rotating shifts, including weekends, night shifts, and/or overtime. Also, depending on business demands, hours may be reduced at any time.
