Job Description s:
A Paralegal with 10 to 15 years of experience is an experienced and highly skilled legal professional who plays a crucial role in supporting attorneys and legal teams. This role involves advanced responsibilities and a deep understanding of legal procedures and practices, making them a valuable asset in various legal settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Legal Research:
Conduct comprehensive legal research using advanced research methods, databases, and resources to gather information for cases and legal matters. - Document Preparation:
Draft, edit, and review complex legal documents, including pleadings, motions, contracts, agreements, and briefs. Ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with legal requirements. - Case Management:
Oversee and manage case files, ensuring all relevant documents, correspondence, evidence, and exhibits are organized, up to date, and easily accessible. - Client Interaction:
Act as a primary point of contact for clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel, maintaining strong communication and managing client relationships. Schedule meetings, depositions, and court appearances, and provide regular case updates. - Court Filings:
Prepare and file legal documents with courts, government agencies, and relevant entities, including e filings. Maintain a calendar of filing deadlines and monitor case dockets. - Legal Software:
Utilize advanced legal software and databases for case management, document management, and timekeeping. Train and mentor junior paralegals in software usage. - Discovery Support:
Lead and coordinate the document collection, review, and production process during discovery. Prepare discovery requests, responses, and privilege logs. - Depositions and Hearings:
Manage all aspects of depositions and hearings, including witness preparation, exhibit management, and all related administrative tasks. - Legal Billing:
Review and approve invoices for legal services, ensuring accuracy, adherence to billing guidelines, and cost-effectiveness. Monitor billable hours and expenses. - Legal Compliance:
Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations affecting legal procedures, documentation, and case strategies. Provide guidance to attorneys on compliance matters. - Supervision:
Provide guidance and mentoring to junior paralegals, legal assistants, and support staff. Ensure efficient workflow and adherence to best practices within the legal team.
- Bachelor's degree in legal studies or a related field. Paralegal certification is preferred.
- 10 to 15 years of experience as a paralegal in a law firm, corporate legal department, or government agency.
- Proficiency in advanced legal research methods and resources, including Westlaw, Lexis Nexis, or similar databases.
- Exceptional writing and proofreading skills, with a strong ability to draft and edit complex legal documents accurately.
- Mastery of legal software and case management systems.
- Proficiency in advanced e-discovery tools is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of court rules and procedures for various jurisdictions.
- Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities, with meticulous attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional demeanor for interactions with clients and legal professionals.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex cases simultaneously and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Strong commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards and upholding client confidentiality.
