The Director of Accounting under limited supervision of the Controller manages the daily operations of general accounting from the NCH Healthcare System. The Director is responsible for the preparation of the monthly and annual financial statements and other regulatory reports, coordinates the year‑end audit, tax returns, allowances, and the preparation of the monthly internal and external financial statements for the NCH Healthcare System and all related facilities.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation within areas as assigned.
- Generates timely financial reports including the Board report and trial balance.
- Manages the general accounting staff.
- Coordinates the year‑end audit including preparing work papers and provides assistance to resolve issues.
- Reviews and recommends the accounting and tax treatment for business combinations, including joint ventures.
- Supervises the completion of all Federal and State Tax reporting requirements.
- Analyzes bad debt allowance, contractual allowance, and net patient revenue.
- Responsible for the monthly closing of the NCH System.
- Reviews all journal entries prepared by the general accounting staff.
- Reviews all monthly reconciliations.
- Assures year‑end statements are prepared in compliance with all financial policies and GAAP standards.
- Implements latest accounting pronouncements for the NCH Healthcare System.
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining a system of internal controls that will ensure that the company assets are adequately safeguarded.
- Provides technical accounting guidance and support to all corporate entities; may include involvement in due diligence and other activities surrounding acquisitions and divestitures.
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
- CPA or Master’s degree in related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience, healthcare experience preferred.
- Advanced computer knowledge: uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
