Accountant, Accounts Receivable​/ Collections, Financial Reporting

Description We are looking for an Accountant to support the financial operations of a non-profit organization in Naples, Florida. This contract position with the potential to become permanent is ideal for someone who brings strong day-to-day accounting experience and can contribute to accurate reporting, organized financial records, and dependable transaction processing. The person in this role will help maintain the integrity of accounting activities across payables, receivables, reconciliations, and general ledger functions.

Responsibilities:

- Manage outgoing payments by reviewing invoices, preparing disbursements, and maintaining accurate accounts payable records.

- Process incoming funds, record receipts promptly, and keep accounts receivable balances current and well documented.

- Prepare and post journal entries to support complete and accurate financial records.

- Reconcile bank activity on a regular basis and investigate discrepancies to ensure account accuracy.

- Maintain general ledger data and assist with month-end accounting tasks and financial close activities.

- Review financial transactions for completeness, proper coding, and alignment with organizational procedures.

- Support reporting needs by organizing accounting documentation and providing clear records for internal review.

- Assist with accounting process updates or system-related changes as needed while preserving data accuracy and continuity. Requirements - Experience performing accounting duties in a detail-oriented environment, preferably within a non-profit or mission-driven organization.

- Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger processes.

- Ability to prepare journal entries accurately and maintain supporting documentation.

- Experience completing bank reconciliations and resolving variances efficiently.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet tools.

- Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
