Ready to empower students and help them find their voice? Sky Above Therapy is looking for a passionate and skilled Exceptional Student Education Teacher to join our supportive special education team for the school year!
What You'll Do:- Develop and implement lessons according to state standards and individual IEP’s
- Prepare IEPs, data collection, and progress monitoring for students on caseload
- Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues
- Maintain class records (including grades and progress monitoring to IEP goals)
- Communicate and function effectively as a member of a classroom team (related service providers, paraprofessionals)
- Attend school district meetings when applicable and/or as requested by the department.
- Florida Certification:
Must hold a valid Florida Department of Education (DOE) Professional Educator Certificate in Exceptional Student Education (K-12) and Elementary:
Elementary Education certification or Secondary:
Any content area certification. - Education:
A Bachelor's degree preferably in education or related field. - Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience as a lead teacher in a special education classroom is strongly preferred, particularly with elementary or early childhood populations. - IEP Expertise:
Demonstrable experience in developing, writing, and implementing high-quality, compliant Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). - Instructional
Skills:
Proficiency in using evidence-based practices, differentiated instruction, and positive behavior support strategies to meet the diverse academic, social, and functional needs of students. - Classroom Management:
Strong skills in creating a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for students with a range of disabilities. - Compliance:
Ability to pass a Level 2 background check as required by the state of Florida for working in schools.
