Upper School Assistant Principal

Position Overview

The Upper School Assistant Principal serves as a key partner to the Upper School Principal, providing spiritual and instructional leadership for grades 6-12 while managing critical operational functions of the Upper School. This position is responsible for student discipline, management, co-curricular activities, and supporting the academic program in a Christ-centered environment. The Assistant Principal works collaboratively with the Upper School Principal, faculty, and families to maintain a positive school culture, ensure smooth daily operations, and support student growth and socially.

This role requires spiritual maturity, strong organizational skills, excellent relational abilities, and a heart for adolescent development.

Spiritual Leadership
  • Model a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ and demonstrate Christian character in all interactions with students, families, and staff.
  • Support the integration of Biblical worldview in student life and co-curricular activities.
  • Partner with families in the spiritual development of students.
Student Management and Discipline3>
  • Serve as the primary administrator responsible for student discipline, ensuring consistency, fairness, and restorative approaches grounded in Biblical principles.
  • Investigate disciplinary incidents, conduct student conferences, and implement appropriate consequences in accordance with school policy.
  • Maintain accurate discipline records and communicate with parents regarding behavioral concerns and action plans.
  • Develop and implement systems for positive behavior support and character development.
  • Monitor student behavior in hallways, common areas, lunch periods, and school events to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
  • Coordinate and serve as lead administrator for all upper school lunch and recess periods.
  • Coordinate detention, in-school suspension, Saturday school, and other disciplinary programs.
  • Support students in developing self-discipline and personal responsibility through coaching and accountability.
Daily Operations and Administration
  • Oversee daily attendance tracking, monitoring chronic absenteeism, and tardiness patterns.
  • Supervise arrival, dismissal, passing periods, lunch, and other transition times.
  • Coordinate emergency drills and crisis response procedures.
  • Work with the security team to oversee implementation of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Work with office managers to oversee locker assignments, parking permits, and student .
Co-Curricular and Athletic Eligibility
  • Assist in athletic programs, attending games and events regularly to support student involvement and safety.
  • Report, in collaboration with the Athletic Coordinator, student-athlete eligibility, and academic performance.
  • Oversee student clubs, activities, and organizations, including the Middle and High School student council.
  • Coordinate event logistics for upper school functions, including Homecoming Week and Dance, Prom, and grade-level academic trips.
  • Ensure proper supervision and safety protocols for all after-school activities.
  • Support coaches and club sponsors in maintaining program quality and student safety.
  • Promote student participation in service projects and leadership opportunities.
Family Communication and Relations
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for families regarding discipline, attendance, and daily operational concerns.
  • Communicate proactively with parents about student behavior, academic concerns, and positive achievements.
  • Conduct parent conferences regarding disciplinary matters and student support plans.
  • Respond to parent questions and concerns in a timely, professional, and grace-filled manner.
  • Build trusting relationships with families through consistent, clear communication.
Teacher and Staff Support
  • Work with Upper School Principal and Assistant Head of School to support new teachers with classroom management strategies and school procedures.
