Description
The Village School of Naples is seeking a dedicated and passionate Upper School Science Teacher to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year. This position offers an exciting opportunity to engage students in rigorous, inquiry-based scientific learning within a collaborative, faith-based environment.
Position OverviewThe Upper School Science Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering dynamic, student-centered instruction that supports scientific literacy, critical thinking, and real-world application. Courses may include Chemistry, Anatomy, and Physiology
, with potential opportunities for advanced or elective coursework depending on school needs and candidate expertise. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong content knowledge, instructional flexibility, and a commitment to educating the whole student.
- Design and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans, laboratory experiences, and assessments
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes inquiry, collaboration, and curiosity
- Facilitate hands-on laboratory investigations while maintaining appropriate safety standards
- Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance
- Utilize educational technology and the learning management system effectively
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary S.T.R.E.A.M. and project-based learning initiatives
- Communicate regularly with parents and participate in conferences as needed
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
- Support distance learning when necessary
- Model Christ-centered values and support the mission and vision of The Village School
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of School or Division Head
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, or a related field (Chemistry, Biology, or Health Sciences preferred)
- Teaching certification or licensure appropriate for upper school education
- Experience teaching upper school science;
Chemistry experience required, Anatomy & Physiology preferred - Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to integrate technology and innovative instructional strategies into daily instruction - Passion for inquiry-based, student-centered learning and interdisciplinary teaching
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and collaborative teamwork
- Interest in coaching students and/or participating in extracurricular or after-school programs
- Strong understanding of 21st-century instructional practices and interdisciplinary connections
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills reflective of a high level of professionalism
- High level of proficiency with educational technology for instruction, record keeping, and communication
- Ability to articulate and support the mission and Christian environment of the school
- Demonstrated competence in distance learning, including effective online instruction, communication, organization, and attention to detail
- Physical ability to perform essential teaching functions, including sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 10 pounds without assistance
