Sky Above Therapy is looking for a passionate and skilled Interpreter for Hearing Impaired to join our supportive special education team for the school year! Work collaboratively in a dynamic school environment, providing essential evaluation and therapy services to students from Early Childhood and Elementary. WhatYou'll Do
- Providing direct interpreting services utilizing oral transliteration services; cued language transliteration services; sign language transliteration and interpreting services, and transcription services to match the needs of the student, as jointly agreed by the contractor and school representatives.
- Provide special interpreting services for students who are deaf‑blind when and where needed.
- Attend team or multi‑disciplinary meeting as needed.
- Communicate and function effectively as a member of a classroom and school team (related service providers, paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators, parents),
- Participate with school staff and students in Individual Education Plan (IEP) and 504 meetings as appropriate.
- Attend school district meetings when applicable and/or as requested by the Department.
- Certification: A valid certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), and/or a Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) certification.
- Educational Interpreting Score: A passing score on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) of 2.9 or higher is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of experience interpreting in a K-12 educational setting is strongly preferred. Experience with elementary‑age students is a plus.
- Language Fluency: Demonstrable fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English, with exceptional expressive and receptive skills.
- Professional Knowledge: Deep understanding of the RID Code of Professional Conduct and its application in a school environment. Knowledge of Deaf culture and the continuum of communication modes used by students.

Proven ability to work effectively as part of an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team alongside teachers, parents, and other service providers. - Compliance: Ability to pass all required school district background checks.
