About Naples Classical Academy: A Tuition-Free Public Charter Classical School. Naples Classical Academy is a Hillsdale College Member School. NCA's mission is to train the minds and improve the hearts of students through a classical, content-rich curriculum that emphasizes virtuous living, traditional learning, and civic responsibility.

We seek a qualified, full-time ELA/Composition teacher who possesses strong classroom management skills and a dedication to the art of teaching with an emphasis on Reading and Writing. Teachers are expected to demonstrate high moral character and mastery of the subjects they teach. They will work collaboratively to create working and learning environments for all students that foster foundational habits promoting virtue.

This position reports directly to the head of school.

• Develop schedules, lesson plans, and teaching methods that help students cover the required content and follow the curriculum with skill and fidelity.
• Manage a classroom in such a way as to create an atmosphere characterized by respect.
• Aid scholars in building foundational habits that cultivate the virtues of courage, honesty, and perseverance.
• Contribute to the life of the school through participation in school events.
• Assist with teacher duties.
• Communicate with parents, regularly and professionally, about student conduct and progress.
• Prepare and deliver lessons that are stimulating and clear.
• Comply with all relevant school policies and state and federal laws and regulations.
• Set up tests, assignments, and grade students fairly.
• Attend staff and parent meetings, conferences, workshops, and other professional development.
• Ensure a safe, healthy classroom environment where learning can take place.
• Prepare lesson plans for substitute teachers.

• Required – Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
• Experience in a classical environment preferred.
• Valid teaching license or certificate, or willingness to begin pursuing one of the various pathways to certification offered by the state.
• A willingness to work hard and maintain a positive, professional attitude and demeanor.
• A commitment to teamwork, service, leadership, and growth.
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
• A working understanding of child development, together with patience, good humor, and professionalism.
• Basic technology skills.
