Job Title: Elementary Support Teacher

Classification: Part-Time Nonexempt (M–T, 2:30–6:00)

Summary / ObjectiveTogether with the manager of the Elementary After-School program and the classroom teacher, the Support Teacher assists with the implementation of high‑quality, comprehensive, and developmentally appropriate programming for the afternoon Elementary School‑Aged After‑School Program (approx. 14 hrs/week).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Classroom Supports: Aid in maintenance of classroom organization, completing tasks such as classroom set‑up and clean‑up, managing supplies and materials, assisting with preparation and implementation of activities, and managing student behavior.
- Child Safety: Provide appropriate and active supervision during activities in a variety of settings—classroom, playground, bus, cafeteria, etc.
- Curriculum Support: Support instructional methods to promote math and reading growth, including whole‑group instruction, center‑based learning centers, homework support, and small‑group instruction.
- Volunteer Management: Welcome and encourage volunteer involvement; model and coach volunteers; maintain high visibility and a hands‑on presence with students, staff, volunteers, and parents.
- Communication: Support parent events; work collaboratively with teachers and managers to communicate program expectations and changes to parents.
- Education / Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent; at least 1 year of experience in youth development, childcare, or related field; must obtain Foundation Florida DCF certificate within 1 year of employment.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bi‑lingual preferred (English/Spanish or English/Haitian Creole); experience working with diverse cultures; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, internet, and basic computer skills sufficient to maintain program records and budgets and communicate with parents, volunteers, partners, and community; strong interpersonal and written communication skills; commitment to the mission and core values of Grace Place; current first aid and CPR certificates (obtainable within 90 days of employment);
able to pass background checks and FDLE fingerprinting.
All applicants must successfully complete required State and National background screening as a condition of employment prior to beginning work. Screening is conducted in accordance with applicable Florida law, including Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, and, when applicable, Chapter 408, Florida Statutes. The screening includes fingerprinting for FDLE and FBI criminal history checks and review through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
Employment is contingent upon receipt, review, and approval of screening results.
