Systems Engineer, Electrical Engineering
Application close date:
Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.
At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!
This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented
Launch Engineer to join our Launch Operations team at Blue Origin. This role is responsible for developing, leading, and executing comprehensive test plans and procedures for integrated avionics subsystems, ground support equipment (GSE), and spaceflight systems. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic production environment, excels at troubleshooting complex electrical systems, and is committed to the highest standards of safety and technical rigor.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support the integrated system testing of launch vehicles, ensuring quality and reliability for human spaceflight missions. Leveraging advanced methodologies and instrumentation, you will play a critical role in validating avionics systems and maintaining Blue Origin’s commitment to mission success.

- Support the industrialization of new products in areas such as solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, and structures.
- Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT), key to building reliable vehicles for space exploration.
- Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing and test processes that support Blue Origin’s mission.
- Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate building a road to space.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing and test documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
- Evaluate and implement new manufacturing and test technologies and methods (e.g., advanced instrumentation, automated test equipment, precision measurement).
- Support root cause analysis of process or product non‑conformances; develop and implement corrective actions that enhance reliability and performance.
- Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001), supporting a safe and sustainable future in space.
- Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines, equipment, and test setups.
- Identify and complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction, optimizing our ability to achieve our mission at scale.
Launch Operations sits at the heart of Blue Origin’s launch and spaceflight systems, turning design intent into hard data, clean checkouts, and flight confidence. Our Launch Engineers architect and execute integrated test campaigns for avionics, GSE, and flight hardware - from first poweron and subsystem verification to fullstack vehicle and padlevel tests that clear the way for launch day.
You won’t just run procedures; you’ll design smarter, faster, more resilient ways to test. You’ll develop and refine automated test systems, data acquisition architectures, and instrumentation strategies that push test coverage, increase speed, and boost confidence for every mission. Technical depth in areas such as digital/analog electronics, power systems, communications, sensors, DAQ, and test automation (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, or similar tools) will let you dive deep when it matters - debugging issues at the bench, guiding test approaches, challenging assumptions, and setting a high technical bar for the systems you own.
