The Sr. Engineer I (Electrical) – Product Development supports the Imaging and Resection team in full life cycle development of medical devices, including initiation, design, development, execution, and product maintenance, in a global environment focused on helping surgeons treat patients better™.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Designs electronic sub-systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
  • Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
  • Determines budgets and timelines for assigned projects.
  • Leads electrical design for multifunctional new product project teams through project technical feasibility analysis, initiation, planning, execution, and termination, adhering closely to project timeline and budget.
  • Provides design history file support for assigned projects, adhering to Arthrex design control procedures.
  • Provides regulatory department with technical electrical support for assigned projects as needed.
  • Supports marketing and product management with electrical technical information for training and marketing of assigned products.
  • Supports manufacturing to provide processing improvements.
  • Supports surgeon and distributor customers by training and/or educating on electrical technical aspects of assigned products as needed.
  • Determines necessity of electrical testing and initiates testing of assigned products.
  • Reports on progress and status of assigned projects on a timely basis.
  • May be required to travel to attend trade shows and visit established and prospective accounts. International travel may be required.
Knowledge:
  • Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards. Full knowledge of industry practices.
Skills:
  • Proficiency in designing products using schematic capture and layout tools. Altium experience preferable.
  • Solid Works and/or Creo experience preferred.
  • Electronic and electronic systems manufacturing process knowledge preferred.
  • Experience working in fluid or vacuum systems preferred.
  • Project management and communication skills training preferred.
  • Technical knowledge in development methodologies, design, and project implementation.
  • Experience in the design, layout, simulation, procure, and bring‑up/debug/test of printed circuit board assemblies including digital circuits, analog circuits, and mixed‑signal circuits (high‑speed and DDR experience & knowledge preferred).
Education and Experience:
  • 5 years of professional experience excluding academic coursework or internships required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) required.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
Language and Communication

Skills:
  • Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to perform the job. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to team members and management. Ability to record data and information as required by procedures.
Physical Demands:
  • Requires talking or hearing, sitting most of the time, using hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms. Occasionally lifts or moves up to 10 pounds.

  • Visual acuity is necessary to do the job safely and effectively.
