ASSISTANT CONTROLLER
A remarkable opportunity exists with Bay Colony Golf Club, one of the finest clubs in Naples, Florida, to join our team as the Assistant Controller. The successful candidate will have exceptional knowledge of financial processes in the private club industry.
Viable candidates will possess all of the requisite skills, personal leadership qualities and traits suited for a conservative and traditional exclusive private club environment. A kind, genuine, outgoing personality is a must as is a strong working knowledge of financial operations management.
Position SummaryThe Assistant Controller supports the Chief Financial Officer in overseeing the Club's accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls and compliance functions. The position establishes a critical point of contact with the membership by providing timely assistance and information, enhancing the accuracy of the Club's reported financial results by helping to maintain a high level of data integrity.
Key Responsibilities Accounts Receivable- Reconcile and post daily sales activity.
- Post and track member payments and prepare monthly statements.
- Interact professionally with members regarding account inquiries.
- Manage the full accounts payable cycle, ensuring invoices are properly approved, coded, and processed in a timely manner.
- Process vendor payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements.
- Maintain digital records.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes in accordance with GAAP.
- Monthly journal entries; perform General Ledger account reconciliations.
- Assist with preparation and analysis of financial statements and variance explanations.
- Maintain and document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Support segregation of duties, regulatory compliance, including tax filings.
- Assist with audit preparation and coordination with external auditors.
- Prepare reports, reconciliations and ad hoc financial analysis.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable managing competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Service-oriented mindset with professionalism and discretion.
- Embraces technology and continuous process improvement.
- A minimum of three years' experience in a private club.
- Ability to work independently while supporting broader finance team goals.
- Club Management Software preferred.
- CHAE and/or CHTP preferred.
- Base salary based on experience, standard benefits to include health, life, vision and dental insurance, paid vacations, PTO, and participation in the club's 401K program.
